2024 was better than forecast
The year 2024 was also marked by uncertainty and the economic downturn in Europe, especially Germany. Despite this, Stalatube managed to achieve a strong annual result for the fourth year in a row. Turnover fell from €100.5 million in the previous year to €94.1 million, but the company managed to make an operating profit of €9.6 million despite the generally challenging market situation.
As in previous years, staff will receive an annual bonus directly proportional to the company’s net profit. CEO Sami Packalén stresses the importance of skilled and committed staff as a success factor.
Given the weak global situation, we can be very pleased to report a positive annual result, as the past year was challenging for exporting companies. Strikes, an uncertain geopolitical situation and weak European markets also impacted our operations. Last year, our delivery volumes to the bus industry were lower than expected, but on the energy side, we won some great, big projects. Exports to the US were also relatively good,” says Sami Packalén, CEO.
The company is seeking growth by specialising in high-strength and, therefore, lighter stainless steel structural tubes, beams and sections, and by seeking new end-user applications and projects. In particular, R&D investments in products for transportation business are expected to open up new growth opportunities in the coming years.
We are also constantly looking for new, more sustainable solutions to reduce our own and our customers’ carbon footprint,” Packalén continues.
At the beginning of 2025, Stalatube was awarded the EcoVadis silver level. EcoVadis scores companies on criteria related to climate, environment, labour and human rights, ethics and procurement. In addition, Stalatube is committed to promoting its climate action by setting science-based targets for its operations, in line with the SBTI programme.
