Meri’s career path at Stalatube

Meri Porkka, our Logistics Planner, has taken a long and versatile path at Stalatube before arriving at her current role. Her career began at Suomen Putkilaser, from where she transferred to Stalatube in 2015 through an acquisition. At that time, she started as a Laser Operator.

From her role as a Laser Operator, Meri advanced to become Logistics and Warehouse Worker, where she was responsible for coordinating truck loadings.

That role taught me how to manage the bigger picture and take responsibility. It was great to see how my work was connected to the entire supply chain.

With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Meri returned to working as a Laser Operator and later moved to the FIB tube line. These transitions provided her with additional technical skills and greater flexibility in her work.

Situations change, but I’ve always believed that as long as you do your job well and take initiative, it will take you far.

The next major step came when she was offered the opportunity to move into a white-collar position as a Logistics Planner. Meri seized the chance without hesitation.

I thought that if I don’t try this now, I might regret it later. I wanted to challenge myself and see the work from a different perspective.

Meri enjoys her current role very much and especially values her colleagues.
Meri sums up the message of her career story simply:

You don’t always need years of formal education – sometimes it’s enough to be willing to learn and to get things done. In that case, the sky is the limit.
