Today, September 15th, 2025, Stalatube Lahti will achieve a remarkable milestone: 1000 days without work-related accidents leading to sick leave. This accomplishment highlights our strong and consistent commitment to occupational safety. It also sets a new company record, clearly surpassing our previous best of 558 days.
Reaching this level of safety is not the result of one initiative, but of long-term, goal-oriented work. Over the years, we have modernized equipment, improved workplace cleanliness, introduced protective measures, and invested in training. Preventive safety work – from regular audits and safety drills to employee-led initiatives – has been essential in creating a culture where occupational health and safety are part of our everyday operations.
Working at or visiting our units should never pose a risk to anyone’s health. Achieving 1000 accident-free days in the metal industry is an extraordinary accomplishment, and it reflects the dedication of our entire staff, says CEO Sami Packalén.
The transformation of our safety culture has been significant. As Occupational Safety and Health Representative Aarni Lyhty notes, many practices that once seemed unusual are now second nature.
All the small changes have gradually transformed the company culture as a whole. Today, no one would think of working without the proper protective equipment.
Our commitment to safety goes beyond compliance. We recognize that well-being at work is closely tied to occupational safety, which is why we support our employees’ health, recovery, and balance both inside and outside the workplace.
This 1000-day achievement belongs to everyone at Stalatube. It shows what we can accomplish together when safety is truly part of our company’s DNA. And while we celebrate this milestone, we also look ahead: every new day is another chance to make our workplace even safer.
